Tour Description
Travel to the Northern Plains of Costa Rica and explore the most popular touristic activities of the La Fortuna area on this Arenal Volcano Main Attractions Tour. The tour begins in the morning when you are pickup from your San Jose area hotel and then your journey will continue with a scenic drive through plantations, jungles and typical local towns until reaching La Fortuna, the main town at the Arenal Volcano area.
Upon arrival, you will visit La Fortuna Waterfall, one of the most resembling attractions in Costa Rica. To get to this waterfall you will go through a beautiful trail immersed in the rainforest, where you will hike down a few hundred steps until reaching the big natural pool. Here you will have the opportunity to swim in the refreshing waters of this waterfall, where is also common to observe the local wildlife of our rain forests.
Later on, you will have lunch in a restaurant at the base of Arenal Volcano, and then you will visit the Arenal Hanging Bridges, the most visited attraction of this area. Hike on trails surrounded by exuberant tropical rainforest for about 3 hours, where you will be able to observe this amazing eco-system from the top at the bridges and from the ground while on the trails. This hike includes several hanging bridges, where is very common to observe monkeys, sloths, toucans, coatimundis, frogs and many other species of the rainforests.
Continuing with your trip you will relax at the thermal mineral waters of the hot springs, where you will be able to relax your muscles after a full day of adventures. The hot springs offer a relaxing environment surrounded by the most beautiful tropical gardens, featuring several pools with different temperatures. At the end of the tour, you will travel back to your San Jose area hotel and will have dinner on the way.
Special Notes:
You must understand that this is a full-day tour, ideal for those who don't have a lot of time while in San Jose but wish to experience the Arenal Volcano Main Attractions. This tour involves a good amount of walking (3-4 hours approx.).
Drop off in the Arenal-La Fortuna hotels is available. Please note that if you choose this option, dinner will not be included in your tour because it’s done in a restaurant on the way back to San Jose. Also, there is an extra charge for drop-offs with luggage, but in the case of this tour, it doesn’t apply because the cost of the dinner will cover for the drop off charge. If you wish to take this option, you must let us know at the time of booking.
The hike to La Fortuna Waterfall is not very long (15 minutes approx.), but it requires going up and down 350 steps.
