Welcome to Costa Rica! A Go Tours representative will meet you & greet you at the gate of the airport to proceed with your transfer to the Bougainvillea Hotel (other hotels are available upon request), where you would spend your first night before your natural adventure begins. Your accommodation would be in a standard mountain view room with breakfast included (upgrades available); private balcony, 2 full size beds, flat screen TV, phone, safety box, Wi-Fi, coffee maker, radio alarm clock, hair dryer & ceiling fan (this area remains cool all year round). Also, the hotel features swimming pool, beautiful gardens, restaurant, bar & exercise center.
On the 2nd day of your Costa Rica Rainforest Trip we’ll take you to Tortuguero, a very unique Caribbean Region. Its beautiful canals immersed in the lush rainforests are known as “The Amazon Jungle of Costa Rica”, due to the fact that the only way to get there is through waterways. Your lodging would be at Mawamba Lodge (other hotels available), in a standard room with all meals included; ceiling fan, safe box & private bathroom. Also, the lodge features pool, beautiful gardens, bar, cafeteria, entertainment areas (foosball, pool table, beach volleyball court); complimentary access to Mawamba Park with butterfly-frog-iguana gardens & great location, close to the beach & Tortuguero town.
Today you’ll take one of the most naturally-intense tours available in all Costa Rica, at Mawamba Park & the famous Tortuguero Canals. After breakfast, your naturalist guide will take you on a guided visit to the hotel’s nature park, a place where you’ll learn about native species of butterflies, frogs & iguanas. Afterwards, lunch will be served & then in the afternoon we’ll take you on a boat ride to admire the impressive jungles at the Tortuguero Canals, one of the most biologically-intense places of Costa Rica, where is very common to see lots of wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, basilisk lizards, crocodiles, caimans, river turtles, iguanas, coatis, bats, parrots & several species of exotic tropical birds.
After breakfast, you’ll travel to the town of Guapiles, where you will have lunch & then will take your private transport to the beautiful Arenal Volcano area. Arenal Volcano is considered as the “must see” destination of Costa Rica because of the beauty of the landscape, featuring a huge conic shaped volcano surrounded by tropical jungles, rivers & hot springs. In Arenal, your accommodation would be at Lomas del Volcan Hotel (other hotels available), in a bungalow room with breakfast included; A/C, TV, fridge, hot shower, phone, safe box & Wi-Fi. The hotel also features pool, restaurant & natural trails.
The Arenal Hanging Bridges is an experience that allows you to observe our beautiful rainforests from the top & from the ground. The total hike takes about 2.5 hours; is done mainly on flat terrain with a few “ups & downs” & it includes a total of 15 bridges with different lengths and heights. The main point of this tour is to learn about our diverse rainforest vegetation, but we normally see wildlife during our trips, such as sloths, monkeys, coatis & others. At the end of your rainforest experience we’ll take you to relax at the beautiful Paradise Hot Springs, an attraction that features several pools with water naturally heated by the volcano & unique beautiful gardens.
On the 6th day of your Costa Rica Rainforest Trip we’ll take you to visit the famous Blue River, commonly known in Costa Rica as “Rio Celeste”; one of the most interesting natural wonders of the country. This is a hike that lasts for about 4 hours, in which we’ll show you the diverse flora & fauna of the rainforests of this particular area; but our favorite part of the trip is to show you the specific place where the river turns blue, known as “Los Tenideros”, due to a chemical reaction between the volcanic minerals & the water of the river. On this hike we’ll also take you to see the gorgeous blue lagoon as well as the amazing blue waterfall.
Today’s transfer is a little different, because you’d be crossing the scenic Arenal Lake by boat on your way to Monteverde. Monteverde is one of the natural gems of Costa Rica because of its unique cloud forest where the temperature is cooler; & even though it’s a famous touristic destination, it still keeps a small Costa Rican rural town style. Your lodging would be at Fonda Vela Hotel (other hotels available upon request); in a standard room with breakfast included (upgrades available); private bath, mini bar, phone, coffee maker & cable TV. Fonda Vela also features a pool, 2 fairly large Jacuzzis, a play room, nature trails, gardens, a cozy TV room, a bar, & 2 restaurants.
On this tour we’ll take you to the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, where your guide will show you the different habitats of the Cloud Forest, its flora & fauna. Besides the lush vegetation, you could also observe birds like the Resplendent Quetzal (the most beautiful bird of the Americas), the Three-wattled Bell Bird & other types of wildlife. But this great day is not over yet; towards the evening hours we’ll take you to do a cloud forest night walk, a very intense natural experience. This is the night tour where we normally see more wildlife in Monteverde, such as sloths, kinkajous, olingos, porcupines, armadillos & others.
It’s time to go back home. Your own private transportation will take you to San Jose International Airport for your returning flight.
