Explore the Arenal Volcano area and many beauties of Costa Rica on this Arenal Volcano Experience Tour. You will be picked up in the morning from your hotel in the San Jose area and will travel on the “scenic road to Arenal”, which is a different route than the one taken on the classic Arenal tours.
On the way to Arenal, you will stop in a coffee plantation where you will learn everything about Costa Rican coffee and you will have the opportunity to taste freshly brewed coffee accompanied by local typical snacks. Later on, discover the beautiful La Paz Waterfall, where you will have chances to take great pictures of this natural attraction.
Following you will stop at the San Fernando Waterfall look-out point. Here you will be able to admire the large waterfall, as well as the beautiful exotic birds’ station, where you will have chances to observe several colorful bird species of Costa Rica, including a big variety of hummingbirds and the rare emerald toucan. Continuing with your tour you will stop at the Iguanas Center, a place where you will have the opportunity to observe lots of iguanas at eye level.
Once in Arenal, you will savor a delicious lunch in a local restaurant with great views of the volcano on clear days. After lunch, participate in a native tribe presentation performed by members of the local “Maleku Tribe”, where you will learn about Costa Rican Indigenous Culture. Afterward, enjoy the thermal mineral waters of Paradise Hot Springs, where you will be able to relax for a few hours surrounded by beautiful lush tropical gardens.
At the end of your tour, you will taste a delicious dinner on the way to San Jose, and then you will be taken back to your hotel.
Special Notes:
Drop off is available in the La Fortuna area hotels. Please note that if you choose this option, dinner will not be included in your tour because it’s done in a restaurant on the way back to San Jose. Also, there is an extra charge for drop-offs with luggage, but in the case of this tour, it doesn’t apply because the cost of the dinner will cover for the drop off charge. If you wish to take this option, you must let us know at the time of booking.
The hot springs visited on this tour are man-made pools filled with natural thermal waters that come from underneath the volcano (all of the hot springs in the Arenal Volcano area are man-made pools).
On the coffee plantation visit, you will go to see the coffee plants and will receive a briefing about the history of coffee in Costa Rica. You will also do coffee degustation with local snacks, but we do not go into a coffee processing plant because of logistics reasons.
