Explore the Cloud Forests of Costa Rica on this Monteverde Hanging Bridges Tour from San Jose. Your tour starts in the morning when you are picked up from your hotel in the San Jose area and then you will travel towards the Central Pacific Region of the country, where you will enjoy beautiful views of mountain ranges and the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.
On this drive to Monteverde you will make a few interesting stops on route. On the first stop you will visit the largest fruit stand of the country, where you will learn about the huge variety of tropical fruits of Costa Rica. Following you will stop in the house of a Costa Rican lady where we normally observe lots of playful white faced capuchin monkeys, she has the ability to call them and they normally come in big numbers to her backyard, where they usually play around on the bushes and fruit trees.
Continuing with your tour you will make a couple stops in look-out points to take pictures from the distance of the beautiful Gulf of Nicoya and the Monteverde Cloud forests, the views of these landscapes are very good on clear days. A few minutes later you will arrive to Santa Elena, the main town of the Monteverde area; here you will savor a delicious Costa Rican lunch.
After lunch you will travel to the Monteverde Hanging Bridges in the Coud Forest, where you will learn about this rare eco-system with your guide. You will hike for about 3 hours on well-maintained trails on the ground and will cross several suspension bridges, where you will have the chance to observe the interesting Cloud Forests from above; the
views of these jungles on clear days are spectacular. The distinctive weather conditions of the Monteverde Cloud Forest make it suitable for thousands of plants (over 2500 species) and animals (more than 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds and tens of thousands of insect species), many of them not found anywhere else on Earth.
At the end of your hanging bridges hike you will visit the amazing hummingbird gallery, in our opinion that’s the best hummingbird’s observation place in all Costa Rica, where you will have the chance to see several species native to the country. After the visit to the hummingbird gallery you will be taken back to your hotel in San Jose.
