Tour Description

Make the most of your Costa Rica vacation on this full-day combo tour from San Jose. Your tour starts in the morning when you get picked up from your hotel in the San Jose area and then you will travel towards the Central Volcanic Mountains. On this tour, you will have the chance to make several stops to discover many of the natural treasures that make Costa Rica one of the best travel destinations around the world.

The first stop of your tour will be done in a coffee plantation located on the foothills of Poas Volcano, where your guide will show you the coffee plants and will explain the way we cultivate and harvest coffee in Costa Rica; you will also have the chance to taste our world-famous Costa Rican Coffee along with some of the traditional local snacks.

Continue on to visit La Paz Waterfall, where you will have some time to admire this natural attraction. Following you will stop at the San Fernando Waterfall, where you will be able to see this tall cascade from its look-out deck; and here you will also observe many tropical bird species of the country in their natural habitat, at the exotic birds exhibit.

Next, you will visit the Iguanas Center, a place where you will be able to see many iguanas at eye level from a bridge viewing point; and if you are lucky, you might even see some monkeys and sloths. Later on, you will savor a delicious Costa Rican lunch in a restaurant at the base of the impressive Arenal Volcano; the views of the most famous volcano of Costa Rica from this point are spectacular on clear days.

Continue this exciting day of adventure on a zip lining tour in the rainforest that includes 7 cables and a 50 meters high (150 feet) rappel line over the Arenal River. Following you will learn about Costa Rican Indigenous Culture on a presentation performed by native people from the Maleku Tribe, where you will discover some of the customs and traditions of our native people.

Finish this amazing tour relaxing in the thermal mineral hot springs at the base of Arenal Volcano, there are several pools to choose from with different temperatures and surrounded by the most beautiful tropical gardens. After your visit to the hot springs, you will savor a delicious Costa Rican dinner in a typical restaurant on the way back to your San Jose Hotel.

Special Notes:

Drop off in the Arenal-La Fortuna hotels is available. Please note that if you choose this option, dinner will not be included in your tour because it’s done in a restaurant on the way back to San Jose. Also, there is an extra charge for drop-offs with luggage, but in the case of this tour, it doesn’t apply because the cost of the dinner will cover the drop-off charge. If you wish to take this option, you must let us know at the time of booking.

This tour includes man-made hot springs pools, filled with natural thermal waters that come from underneath the volcano (all of the hot springs in the Arenal Volcano area are man-made pools).

At the coffee plantation, you will go to see the coffee plants and will receive a briefing about the history of coffee in Costa Rica, but we do not go into a processing plant because there is not enough time in order to do the rest of the activities.
